Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about attending our groups.

Q. When and where are your groups?

A: We run two groups, one in Holmfirth on Tuesday and one in Slaithwaite on Friday. Both groups run from 9.30am - 11.30am. Our Holmfirth Group is at The Nest. Our Slaithwaite Group is at Slaithwaite Community Centre.

Q: Do I have to book to attend?

A: No need to book! Turn up whenever and stay for as long as you like. We're completely free, and even offer free tea and coffee (and biscuits!)

Q. Do you operate all year round?

A: Our Holmfirth group runs all year round, except for the final two weeks of August when the Nest is closed. Our Slaithwaite group operates term time only.

Q. Where can I park?

A: In Holmfirth, The Nest has its own free parking (this has quite a narrow entrance). What Three Words Location. Alternatively you can park in the nearby Co-Op Car Park.

In Slaithwaite, there is on street parking on Bank Gate on Nabbs Lane. Alternatively, you can park in Aldi's car park, or New Street public car parks.

Q. Can I bring my partner/friend/family member?

A: Yes of course. Family support in the early stages is so important.

Q. Can I bring my older child?

A: We welcome older siblings of any age at our Holmfirth group. Unfortunately, we can only accommodate pre-school children at our Slaithwaite group.

Q: I’m not sure my breastfeeding problems are "big enough." Should I still come?

A: Yes, absolutely! You’re welcome to join us whether you need specific support, a bit of guidance, or just a friendly place to sit and chat. Many parents find our group a wonderful spot to make friends who truly understand the everyday ups and downs of feeding.

Q: I'm not exclusively breastfeeding, should I still come?

A: Yes - we welcome anyone breastfeeding, whether combi-feeding, expressing or exlusively breastfeeding. There's no 'right way' to breastfeed, we want to support you with what works for your family.

Q: I want to stop breastfeeding, or have recently stopped. Can you help?

A: We can offer support with stopping breastfeeding, judgement-free. We can also offer a kind ear if you're experiencing breastfeeding grief or trauma - this is when your feeding journey hasn't gone as you wanted. We'd love to see you at group, but if being surrounded by other parents feeding feels too much right now, please get in touch or see our resources page for more information on breastfeeding grief.
