About us
Established in October 2021 by a group of passionate volunteers, our breastfeeding group has helped hundreds of families in the Huddersfield area.
Initially we held a group fortnightly, but we soon saw there was huge demand for a warm, friendly group with feeding support, so moved to weekly. We started at the Methodist Church in Holmfirth, and now operate out of The Nest.
We have a constitution, and adhere to the principles of the ABM (Association of Breastfeeding Mothers). We aim to be inclusive and welcoming of all breastfeeding/chestfeeding parents, regardless of race, gender identification, background, non-English speakers etc.
Our feedback

Meet the team
To help you navigate your feeding journey, our team is trained to offer the most up-to-date information and support. Most of us are certified Association of Breastfeeding Mothers (ABM) Peer Supporters. This means we've completed at least 35 hours of training and have many more hours of experience helping parents just like you. (More information on all our volunteers coming soon)

Vicky
"I trained as a peer supporter when my youngest turned 10 and I had some time to dedicate to volunteering. I will never cease to find babies and children utterly fascinating and am amazed by how they develop in their early years and beyond. It is a privilege to share part of this time with everyone who comes to our group. In my spare time I love watching musicals and eating ice cream."

Rachel
"I am a Lactation Consultant and Perinatal Educator. With nearly a decade of experience, I have worked with over 6,000 babies and their families. Formerly based in a hospital setting in San Francisco, I recently moved back to my native UK to set up in private practice."

Victoria
"I trained as a peer supporter after I had a tough time feeding my two boys. It wasn't an easy journey, and I really wanted to help others feel less isolated and anxious about breastfeeding. In my spare time, I love being outside; cycling, swimming, skiing but you will usually find me wrangling two children and a lot of toy tractors"
Our funding
Our group is completely free and not for profit. We have been funded by a number of generous organisations.
National Lottery Community Fund
In December 2024, the National Lottery Community Fund generously funded the continuation of this group for a further two years.

Darkwoods Foundation
In 2026, a grant from the Darkwoods Foundation allowed us to train a further five peer supporters through the ABM.

One Community
In 2026, a donation from The Stada Community Fund, via the One Community Foundation, will allow us to set up a further breastfeeding support group.

The Loose Change Charity
In 2025, The Loose Change Charity helped us buy new t-shirts for our volunteers, helping parents find us quickly when they arrived at our sessions.
